Portals of Reminiscence

Portals of Reminiscence transforms Ebertplatz, Cologne, into an ephemeral canvas of participatory video art. By capturing fleeting interactions among visitors with depth and motion-tracking technology, the work immortalizes these moments as dynamic visual abstractions.

Prior to creating the piece, the artist immersed themselves in the environment, engaging with the square’s unique rhythms and its people. The resulting recordings were processed using self-programmed generative digital tools, weaving a layer of emotional abstraction into each encounter. The installation offers a glimpse into the auras and collective spirit of Ebertplatz, as envisioned through the artist’s lens.
